The cottage is located on allotment 20, as laid out in the [[Waltham The Township of|Waltham]] subdivision of 1878. Following subdivision, the land was first purchased by Elizabeth Lenert [<nowiki/>[[Lienert Charles and Elizabeth|Elizabeth Lienert]]], wife of Charles Lenert of Willaston, lime burner on 30 November 1895<ref name=":1">Certificate of Title 322/116</ref> (earlier that year Elizabeth had also purchased the [[Willaston Lime Kilns|Redbanks Road lime kilns]] across the road from the allotment). It is likely they had the cottage built and resided there until they sold it on 4 April 1923 to Percy Edward Boxer.<ref name=":1" /> In September that year, Boxer sold the cottage to Harry Gerling Bradshaw, who owned it for over 50 years, until his death in December 1977 (it passed to his executors, daughter Joyce Audrey Trott<ref name=":1" /> (widow - see [[Trott Family]]) and son Douglas Bruce Bradshaw). === Princess Street - Ladies Hairdresser === Mrs Freda Couche (nee Freda Linda Thomson) carried out her ladies hairdressing business from her Princess Street home (number unknown) from 1949 until she retired in 1980.<ref name=":0">Fred Brooks Local History Collection</ref> She was the wife of Mr Bert Couche (Herbert Arthur Couche), who had a Barber Shop in Murray Street, the couple married in 1937.<ref name=":0" /> He sold the shop and they moved to Alice Springs, where Freda taught herself hairdressing and opened the first ever ladies hair salon there, before returning to Gawler.<ref name=":0" /> (For more details on the Couche family - see [[Couche William Arthur]]).
