Edward Potter was elected Councillor for Gawler's North Ward in 1875 and 1876 and again in 1879 and 1880. He was then elected as Councillor for Gawler's South Ward in 1887 and 1888.
The plumbing, gasfitting, tinsmith store was established in 1869 by E.Potter. His son, P.C.Potter was taken into the partnership in 1901.
