Gordon Caesar Jacob Born at Gawler on October 18, 1924 Attended Church of England Grammar school, Gawler Primary School and the Gawler High School. He lived all his life in Gawler , on leaving school began work as a clerk with the Australian Wheat board and later the State and Federal Taxation Department. After serving four years in the Royal Navy , he began the business Jacobs Fashion Store in 1947.

Gordon was elected as Gawler Councillor for Barossa Ward 1950 to 1959.

In 1949 married Betty Klopper from Crystal Brook and had three children daughter Susan (1953), middle son Peter (1955) and youngest Michael born in 1957.

Gordon Jacob was inducted into Rotary in 1954 as a Charter Member and served on all committees holding offices from Sergeant at Arms in 1956-57 to President from 1977-78 (In 1908 his Grandfather Cesir Jacob had opened a Drapery and Haberdashery shop in Gawler) Gordon died in 29 August, 1983 aged 59.
