Kevin Fischer Cr.
Born in Pinnaroo in the Mallee country of South Australia, Kevin was raised on a rural property. He was schooled in Pinnaroo until 1979, before finishing his education at Westminster College. On his leaving school in 1980, he was employed by Elders Pastoral [stock and station agents].
After several years with Elders, in 1987, Kevin left and joined the Metropolitan Fire Service. In 1988 he married Diane and lived in Prospect; before moving to Gawler in 1996 with their 3 children; who were raised and educated in Gawler.
Kevin played league football with Norwood and North Adelaide in the mid 80’s, and then country football in the Barossa, Gawler & Light League.
He was elected as an Area Councillor for the Town of Gawler in 2004 until 2006, and then re-elected in 2010 to 2018.
Kevin has been a United Fire Firefighters Union State Councillor since 2007; also serving on consultative SAMFS committees.
He has been on the Central District Basketball Club executive committee since 2007 and was elected president in 2010.
As an Area Councillor for the Town of Gawler, he has chaired the Skate Park Committee, chaired the Infrastructure and Economic Services committee; and has also been serving on the Development Assessment Panel and the Gawler Business Development Group as a Council representative.
Kevin recently completed Certificate IV in building & construction, and is employed with Metropolitan Fire Service stationed at Gawler as a senior firefighter.
He is President of the local district Basketball club and the secretary of Basketball Adelaide; all of which has evolved from his children’s sporting interests and Kevin’s sense of community.
Now in 2014 at age 51, Kevin is thrilled to have been re-elected as Area Councillor for the Town of Gawler for a further 4 year term. He will continue to strive to look at issues objectively, with common sense and Kevin believes in community involvement and balanced outcomes in Council’s decision making process.
