Berthold Kaesler was born to Wilhelm August Kaesler and Johanne Mathilda Elisabeth Kaesler (nee Auricht) on November 23, 1902.
He married Estella Rubina Cora (nee Milde), who was born on June 14, 1903. They were blessed with two children; Aubrey Vernon (13/08/1934), and Coral Heather (15/11/1942). Aubrey grew up to be a Watchmaker, and currently is maintaining the Gawler town hall clock, while Coral married Brenton Rusby in 1963, and spent much of her life working in Gawler chemists.
Bert lived with Cora and their children on High Street, behind their Boot Repair shop on Murray Street, Gawler (opposite the Kingsford hotel). After retiring from his boot making business, Bert worked for Matties Furniture Emporium, as a delivery driver. Later, Matties was taken over by Hoopers Furniture. Burt and his family then moved from High St. to Gozzard St., Gawler East, where he continued his shoe repairs from his home.
Bert was also heavily involved with the local football teams, working in bars (including the bar in the Gawler Golf Club, at Sandy Creek), and was renown for spending his earnings shouting people drinks.
Bert passed away on Sunday January 28, 1973, and was laid to rest in the Willaston Cemetery, later joined by his wife, Cora.
