The RSL Gawler Sub Branch commenced in 1919, their aim is “caring for the welfare and interest of its Members, ex service personnel and Members of the Australian Defence Force and their Dependents.”[1] Their original meeting place was the Foresters Hall in Murray Street.[2]

Evidently the RSL building 3 Cowan Street opened 10th December 1948.

In February 2020 Paul Little made a presentation to the Gawler History Team on the "History of the Gawler RSL", at the time he was RSL Gawler Sub Branch President and Pensions Officer.
