Hewett is a suburb north of Gawler and east of Willaston. It includes Mckinlay Estate, Mckinlay Ridge and Harkness Heights housing estates.
The suburb consists of a R-7 Public Primary School, as well as the 'Hewett Shopping Centre'. Hewett is a part of the Light Regional Council.
Harkness Heights, a division of Hewett and is named after Laurie Harkness; a local resident who played a key role in the development of the spectacular hybrid bottlebrush that bears his name the 'Callistemon citrinus x viminalis'. Light Regional Council commenced work on McKinlay Estate in April 2001. The estate is named after Scottish born explorer, <John McKinlay>.
