Stanley Garnet May was born in Gawler in 1882; the son of Alfred May and nee 'Mary' Sarah Jane Bull.
Stanley played football for the South Gawler Football Club. Stanley played for the 'May Brothers' Cricket Team against a 'Railways' cricket team in 1913 scoring 24 not out in his first innings and 13 in his second.
Stanley was killed in action at Belgium, 31 July 1917, during World War One. Click here to read the notification of Stanley's death in The Bunyip (17 Aug 1917). His older brother Bruce May had previously died whilst serving in the Boer War.
