Southern end of Gawler Racecourse

In 2012, when a new road was constructed at the southern end of Gawler Racecourse (from Adelaide Road to Barnet Road), the name Tulloch Road was chosen after Miss J.P. Tulloch, 1908 Gawler Primary School Dr Dawes Medalist; dux of the year 7 girls.

It was a most appropriate choice for this Racecourse location as Tulloch was, from 1954, a thoroughbred racehorse regarded as one of the all time greats of Australian horse-racing history. Tulloch was trained by the legendary Tommy Smith and Tulloch compiled a racing record of 36 wins, 12 seconds, and 4 thirds. Only once in 53 starts did Tulloch fail to run a place.
