According to Sharron Gawler's information supplied to Brian Thom on 20/12/2016, The Reverend Charles Edmund Doudney was born 13th March 1871 in Carlisle England.

He married Joanna Clara Schroeder Poulden in 1899. Joanna was the daughter of Edward and Catherine Poulden [nee Gawler].

Joanna died in July 1958 at Beckenham, England. His Mother-in-law Catherine [1837 - 1914] was the third daughter of Gov George Gawler.

Charles Edmund Doudney was the rector of the Gawler Anglcan Church from 1901 to 1906.

He returned to England in 1906. He served as a Chaplain during World War 1, was killed on active service on 16th October, 1915 and is buried in Flanders in Belgium.
