Pastor Minge came from the Henty congregation in Victoria to serve the Zion congregation at Gawler.

During the ministry of Pastor Minge, the “Little Glory Church”, which had been used as the Lutheran School, was sold, and the Zion Lutheran Hall was built in 1954 to replace it. Membership was then 491 persons. The church building was enlarged with an upstairs gallery in 1964.

When elected as President of the S.A. District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Australia [ELCA], Pastor Minge resigned from the Zion congregation to take up his new full- time position in Adelaide. He preached his farewell sermon at Zion on 19 th September 1965.
