Dr Naomi Rutten - Dr Naomi Rutten Mental Health GP

"My goal is always to heal....." Naomi Rutten was born in Werribee, Victoria and moved to Ararat when she was 3. She had a pretty tough upbringing involving bullying at school, being sexually assaulted till she was 9 and being brought up on a "give it 110% all time!" attitude. The family support was there, they tried at least. her grandmother was her one safe person...

"It was then that I knew I wanted to be a GP and support people" Knowing she wanted to get into medicine she completed all the Uni courses and classes needed to get her to G.A.M.S.A.T. (graduate medical school admissions test).

"It's a place where anyone in Gawler can feel safe and accepted..." Her latest project is to move everything over from her existing practice to a new facility on Porter St. The former Good Samaritan Convent will be repurposed into a brand new centre for balanced healing. Upsizing will make it more accessible to those that need it and the centre will run just the same as the current one that has had ZERO incidents. It will be great to see the former convent brought back to doing what it was intended to do.

"It may not be ready for another 12 months. It's a quiet and beautiful building.... I’m looking forward to rehabilitating the building" When not helping others with their mental health Naomi loves winding down with some gaming (massive Zelda fan!) and even some anime like Naruto. She's an accomplished Tenor Horn player and even played with the Mitcham Brass band (which is where she met her husband). She is also the treasurer of the A.S.P.M. (Australian Society for Psychological Medicine)
