Rice Family Residence
William Rice purchased residence 'Glenalbyn', a 'stately house' in Blanch Street, Gawler East from former Mayor Frank D Harris in around 1923.[2] The property was sold by Willam's widow, second wife Amy Rice (nee Crouch) in 1940, shortly after his passing.[3] The number of the Blanch Street property is yet to be determined via Land Title and Assessment Records, but it must be one with a balcony, as an article from 1925 describes Rice daughter Irene's surprise 21st birthday party as having 'dancing on the balcony'![4]
