The following was provided to John Dawkins MLC by the South Australian Parliament Research Library in 2018......
"Maynard Boyd Dawkins was born at Mt Lofty, SA on 2nd January 1917 and died in Adelaide on 21 October 1996.
He was elected to the Legislative Council 3rd March 1962 to 12th July 1975 and Midland District 12th July 1975 to 5th November 1982 and was within the Liberal and Country League [LCL] and Liberal Party of Australia [SA Division].
Maynard Boyd Dawkins had significant experience in the agriculture sector - particularly in stud sheep breeding and administration, in local government as a councillor and chairman of the District Council of Mudla Wirra, and in choral music as a renowned conductor and soloist.
Mr Dawkins has long links with the Liberal and Country League and served on its Central Executive. He was elected as a representative of that party in the Midland District in 1962 and 1968; before being elected again as a member of the Liberal Party in 1975 under the then new whole-of-state Legislative Council electorate system.
He was one of the earliest advocates of Bolivar treated waste water being used for irrigation on the Adelaide Plains."
