First child of the late Julius Carl Wilhelm EGGERS of Kingsford and formerly of Braunschweig, Germany, who came to South Australia by the ship “Australia” in 1850. Soon after his arrival became engaged in journalistic work and was the founder of the Australische Deutsche Zeitung newspaper. Twelve months later he purchased a section of land at Cockatoo Valley and began farming operations, subsequently taking up 180 acres of the Kingsford Estate which came into prominence about that time. Here he resided until his death in 1871, 25 May at Concordia.
He married 8 July 1853, residence of Mr Helmke, Lyndoch Valley to Henriette Friederike Wilhelmine HELMKE born 8 July 1837 at Kropelin, Mecklenberg, Germany to parents Gottlieb Joachim Henrich HELMKE and Dorothea Catherina nee KULHMANN. She died 4 July 1913 at Greenock late of Kingsford. Their children –

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm was born at Cockatoo Valley on 10 September 1854 eldest child of Julius and Friederike Wilhelmine EGGERS nee HELMKE and upon the completion of his education by private tuition entered upon the agricultural industry from the age of fifteen and a half years becoming practically manager of his father’s farm with the support of the family. He proved himself equal to the responsibility and farmed with success a property of 180 acres at Concordia, taken by his mother with right of purchase. About 1878 this holding was disposed of at a profit and Carl F W being relieved from his family obligations launched out in business on his own account.
Carl rented 299 acres of land at “Floraville” near Gawler, his plant a German wagon, and with stock consisting of four horses and a cow he began work on his new farm, the experience he had previously acquired being of great service to him. His efforts were rewarded by advancing prosperity and during the twenty-two years he spent in this district he was enabled to amass a few hundred pounds. Mr Eggers ultimately acquired 200 acres of land at Wasleys which he at once brought under cultivation, built a comfortable homestead, and rapidly made his way to the forefront among the agriculturists of the neighbour-hood.
In September 1905 he received a commission of Justice of the Peace, has been the President of the National League in the district for two years and a member of the School Board of Advice for the same period. As a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows for 28 Years, he has held all the chairs of office in his branch. Mr Eggers, a Trustee of the Lutheran Church and has held office as Warden and Treasurer of that body, with which he has been associated since childhood. He was a founder of the new church at Wasleys.
In 1878 Carl Friedrich Wilhelm EGGERS married Anna Marie KONZAG at the residence of Friedrich August KONZAG, Roseworthy. Anna was born at Mount Crawford 9 October 1859 to parents Friedrich August KONZAG and Christiane nee JURTZ. Children of the union –
