Gawler History Team Inc. is proud to support local history and heritage organisation in Australia.

We are a local group formed in 1983 to preserve, record and research the history of the area from Sevenhill to Leasingham. Our home is the Watervale Institute where we have local research facilities, a library, a collection of maps, historic photographs, documents relating to community groups in the area and memorabilia donated by members and locals.
The Society: · Owns and maintains John Horrocks Cottage built-in 1839 at Penwortham. · Opens the cottage on the first Sunday of the month between 2 and 4 pm or by appointment · Welcomes visits from school groups and other community organisations. Catering can be arranged with prior notice. · Is the custodian of many historical artefacts and welcomes donations to add to its collection. · Assists members of the society in undertaking their family research · Carries out research for the general public at a moderate cost · Organises regular Guest Speakers on historical related topics. · Publishes a quarterly newsletter for members.
