Gordon Caesar Jacob was born at Gawler on 18 October 1924, son of 'Joe' Leslie Joseph Jacob. Attended Church of England Grammar school, Gawler Primary School and the Gawler High School. He lived all his life in Gawler, on leaving school began work as a clerk with the Australian Wheat board and later the State and Federal Taxation Department. After serving four years in the Royal Navy, he began the business Jacob's Fashion Store in 1947. (In 1908 his Grandfather Cesir Jacob had opened a Drapery and Haberdashery shop in Gawler)
Gordon was elected as Gawler Councillor for Barossa Ward 1950 to 1959.
In 1949 married Betty Klopper from Crystal Brook and had three children daughter Susan (1953), middle son Peter (1955) and youngest Michael born in 1957.
Gordon Jacob was inducted into Rotary in 1954 as a Charter Member and served on all committees holding offices from Sergeant at Arms in 1956-57 to President from 1977-78.
Gordon died on 29 August 1983, aged 59 and is buried at Willaston Cemetery (plot 4 T 1), with wife Betty, who died on 9 August 2018, aged 90.
