27-29 King Street is located on the corner of Victoria Terrace (opposite swimming pool).
In the 1839 survey, this site (allotment 211) was allocated to the Wesleyan Church. On the 13 January 1905 the site was held in the name of Pauline Maher wife of Dr James Patrick Maher, Physician & Surgeon and on 2 February 1907 it was transferred to Edith Marion Greenslade.[2]
Prior to this transfer of the land, the building must have been constructed, as Nurse Greenslade, had began running her private hospital, "Nurse Greenslade's Cottage Hospital", there in 1905.
In 1917 Mrs H Green took over the premises to run her business "Mrs Green's Nursing Home", where many Gawler locals were born. Follow the links for more information about these businesses.
At some stage after its use as a hospital, the building was converted into units and in 2026 is being operated as a B&B.
