The Gawler Heritage Survey 1998 was prepared by Danvers Architects for the Corporation of the Town of Gawler in association with Anne Pope Historical Consultant and Peter Jensen Planning and Urban Design.
The preparation of the Corporation of the Town of Gawler 'Local Heritage Places' and 'Historic Conservation Policy Areas' Plan Amendment Reports was undertaken by a team consisting of Danvers Architects Pty Ltd and Peter Jensen Planning & Urban Design. Danvers Architects carried out the heritage investigations for the project with assistance from historical consultant Anna Pope, who prepared the Gawler Heritage Survey 1998. The Report was commissioned by the Corporation of the Town of Gawler in August 1996. The area of investigation was the whole of the lands currently within the boundary of the Corporation of the Town of Gawler (see figure 1. 1). The aim of the project was to examine all places of potential heritage significance and to identify any which fulfilled one or more of the criteria in either the Heritage Act 1993 or the Development Act 1993. The resultant recommendations will be included in the Council's Local Heritage Places Plan Amendment Report. Those places which fulfil one or more of the criteria in the Heritage Act 1993 have been recommended for entry in the State Heritage Register and referred to the State Heritage Branch of the Department of Environment, Heritage and Aboriginal Affairs. This report also recommends that in the event that any of these places are rejected by the State Heritage Authority and are not entered in the State Heritage Register, they should be added to the local heritage register. Those places which fulfil one or more of the criteria in the Development Act 1993 have been recommended for entry in the Local Heritage Register.
The survey includes 88 places in Gawler. (see pages 9-11).
