Reverend Walter Jones was a long standing minister at the Gawler Congregational Church, serving for about 20 years before relocating to Queensland in about 1902 (he died there in 1907). A stained glass window was unveiled as a memorial to him in the Congregational Church in 1908 (the window was relocated to Tod Street Methodist Church after the union of the churches).
