Dean's Bakery was on this corner, photos from c1900 refer to the site as "Dean's Corner". The building was demolished in 1938, and at the time the Bunyip (15 July 1938)[1] suggested it was one of the oldest buildings in Gawler, and that as the building was taken down "the roof opened up the age of the structure. The modern covering of iron when removed showing a roofing of slate, and when these were demolished, there was a third protection of wood shingles."[1]
