Pictured is George Wohlstadt, circa 1964.

Goodyear Tyre Service was between the ANZ bank and the 2013 Reject Shop car park. I have some very fond memories of going to work with Dad on a Saturday morning, not only the particular smell of new rubber tyres but the fun my brother and I had of playing down the cellar (come) store room. It was great when we restocked the cellar by rolling the tyres down the steps! I would also enjoy travelling with him to nearby farms to deliver tractor tyres.

We would get some pocket money on the Saturday morning and go across the road to Coles (now the Chemist) and get plenty for our money !!

From there Dad went on to manage the new store in the fast growing City of Elizabeth before managing the Barossa Motel, Lyndoch.

As told by Monica Wohlstadt 12th September 2013 via email to Bunyip Editor.
