Type of event Commemoration

The first Adelaide to Gawler Air Mail flight took place on 23 Nov 1917, it was only the second time a plane had visited Gawler and the first service of its kind in South Australia.[1] The flight was more of a novelty event than a necessary mail service.[1]

A monument stands at Adelaide Road at the northern end of the Gawler Racecourse.
