BEADNALL, Percy William Cuthbert
The eldest son of Thomas Cuthbert Beadnall (one of the early residents of the town) and Emma nee Percy, he was born at Gawler on 3 May 1881.
Received his education at the Gawler Model School and upon the conclusion of his school days studied chemistry for five years. He was a prominent athlete.
Percy was the secretary, for many years, to the May Brothers & Co., mining engineers and implement manufacturers of Gawler.
He filled the secretaryship in connection with the Bushman’s Pride Lodge in the Ancient Order of Foresters succeeding his father.
In 1906 Mr Beadnall was appointed Secretary of the Gawler Jockey Club. Was a member of the Gawler Rifle Club and 1916 was the Secretary of the Gawler Agricultural, Horticultural & Floricultural Society.
He enlisted on 24 October 1916 and served in the 11th Field Ambulance.
He is listed in the Electoral Roll of Australia for 1941 as residing at 7 Moore Street, Gawler and his occupation given as Gawler District Council – Clerk.
Percy William Cuthbert BEADNALL died at Gawler on 27 October 1962 and was buried in the St George’s Anglican Cemetery, Gawler East.
