Pastor at the Gawler Lutheran Parish 1984 – 1989

Born in New Zealand and trained as an electrician, Pastor Bergen studied for the ministry in Adelaide.

He came to Gawler from Bundaberg in Queensland to serve the Gawler Lutheran Parish and the Zion congregation in particular. Pastor Peter Miller was previously called to the Parish to primarily serve the Immanuel congregation.

Pastor Bergen introduced to the Zion congregation Marriage Enrichment programs, two services on a Sunday morning, morning tea after the services, and maintained a visiting program to all members and a connection with people in aged-care facilities. He was involved with the Immanuel School and the Zion kindergarten, and trained leaders to conduct regular cottage Bible studies.

After six years in Gawler, Pastor Bergen returned to Queensland to the Boona Lutheran congregation.
