"Tommy" Brinkworth (nee Shemmeld) was one of eight children born and raised at Angaston. In 1950, after living for a number of years at and Tumby Bay and Minlaton, she and her husband, Ronald Brinkworth, purchased a property (Lyncroft) of seven acres near Gawler. After her husband's death, Mrs Brinkworth lived out almost all of her remaining years in a house on Adelaide Road, Gawler.
The Humble Folk is an account of "Tommy" Brinkworth's life. The first edition, compiled by E V Prest, was published in 1991. This 2nd edition, published in 1993, was revised by Irmgard Kobelt.
