Malcolm Robert Buckby is a former research economist and farmer who entered politics. Buckby succeeded Member for Light, Mr Bruce Eastick in 1993 and held the seat until 2006. After the 2002 South Australian State Election, Mr Buckby, a shadow minister in the Opposition Government of Rob Kerin, was given the portfolios of Education, Transport, Urban Development, and Planning Portfolios.
