The Church of Christ in South Australia, was established in the 1840s as part of a Protestant reform movement.

"Gawler's first Church of Christ congregation formed in 1919 and met in the Forester's Hall until the completion of their own church."[1] The foundation stone for their church, located at the site now known as 3-5 Adelaide Road, was laid by William Burford Esq on 28 June1924,[2] and the church was opened on 24 December 1924.[1] Total construction cost was £2000.[1] A hall was added to the church in 1959.[1]

The church building was sold; in 1998 it was owned by ETSA[1] and in 2025 it was the premises of Kies Real Estate and Healthy Mind Australia (NDIS Service Provider).

The Gawler History Team does not have any photographs from the time the building was in use as the Church of Christ, but there is a photo of the 1952 Church of Christ Boys Brigade.
