Perfectionist with a flair for art, information and design Philip Noel Eastick “Strategic Consultant”

Phillip grew up in a politically stimulating environment, his father Bruce was Leader of the Opposition in the state Parliament. However, Phillip chose to avoid life in the public eye. He attended Gawler Primary School, Gawler High School and the University of Adelaide, majoring in law.

In his late teens, Phil became involved in the live music scene as a roadie, lighting crew, lighting designer and eventually tour manager for many local and visiting acts. Phil went to the US in 1982, touring with the band The Angels as lighting designer. He met Robin Tourville through Sheryl Cooper, Alice Cooper's wife. They met in April 1982, were engaged a few days later and married in September that year. Phil toured in America with Ronnie James Dio and The Little River Band, featuring John Farnham as singer. In 1985, Phil founded Quick Cargo, an entertainment logistics company with offices in London, New York and Los Angeles. His clients included Alice Cooper, Samantha Fox, Kenny G, Icehouse, Jefferson Starship, AC/DC, Jam, Willie Nelson, Metallica, Guns n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linda Ronstadt and Santana.

In 1992, due to failing health, he returned to South Australia with his wife and daughter. Phillip became involved in Ngapartji in 1995, bringing together diverse stakeholders including a consortium of State Government Saturday departments, universities, local ICT firms, Telstra and Microsoft. He was considered the father of Ngapartji, which played a crucial role in developing the multimedia industry in Adelaide in the 1990s. While on the staff of Michael Armitage, then Minister for Information Economy, from 1997, he drove the creation of the report Information Economy 2002: Delivering the Future. Phillip also led the formation of the state's IT Council, an amalgam of eleven IT industry bodies, to form a new peak body. From 2000, he had many private clients he assisted in engaging with Government on their business and technology strategies.

SA state governments continued to seek his advice. He was known to be a perfectionist, his attention to detail improving hundreds of government reports.

A thread through these years is the Hostworks story: Hostworks grew out of the back room upstairs at Ngapartji after the opportunity to bring the Microsoft Internet Data Centre for Australia to Adelaide arose in late 1996. Phil's role in leading the back room forces to ensure the success of this project was considerable. Phil's mentoring of many people has created a lasting but largely hidden legacy.
