Gawler Blue Light conducts dance events each year for children and teenagers. They deliver drug and alcohol education and safety messages. Money raised from events goes towards conducting other Youth Programs, Initiatives and Projects.

The GBL committee is chaired by a current serving police officer and comprises Police Officers and Community Members, including local youth, who all volunteer their time. The committee endeavours to work alongside other youth agencies where possible and welcomes those with a passion for helping youth.

Gawler Blue Light was awarded the Town of Gawler”s “Community Group of the Year” in the 2009 Australia Day Awards.

Gawler BL was relaunched in 2001 by volunteers led, by Sean Murphy.

Suzy Skewes is the longest serving member, having been involved from the first meeting on the committee.

GBL became the biggest and most successful blue light branch in SA, under the leadership of the chairperson Ian Skewes who joined in 2004.

At its height, over 700 youth attended monthly dance events at STARplex, where crime prevention messages flashed across the screens and police interacted and danced with those attending. Money raised at the discos paid for youth programs conducted by GBL, Examples;

Yr 11/12 leadership & personal development program to the APY lands annually.

Coordinating The Duke of Edinburgh's Award program, with over 70 local participants.

Orienteering in the Canoe SA Team paddle challenge for schoolchildren annually.

Launching and running Two Wells BL,

Relaunching Barossa BL, supporting them..

Donated stage lights system to the Gawler Youth Space.

Supporting local youth sporting events, local youth bands.

Annual youth camps to Flinders Ranges.

Enabled & encouraged youth volunteering at events.

Recognised as an accredited service club in the Town of Gawler.
