My grandparents were HENRY NORMAN THOMAS and EVA FRANCES (nee MARCHANT, sixth child of Philip James MARCHANT, photographer, living at Mars Hill, before moving to Latrobe, Tasmania, then returning to Gawler). Henry (more commonly known as Norm) and Eva lived on their property 'Highlands' Auburn, then purchased a larger property at Manoora, called 'Craiglee'. In 1944 they appointed a manager there, and purchased Dr Popham's home on High Street, Gawler. I believe they called their home 'Craiglee' rather than 'Craiglea.' Their third child (Hedley Norman THOMAS) was my father, who married Eileen Lorraine TIVER, and they farmed their property 'Braefield' Reeves Plains from their marriage in 1938 until they sold up and moved to Mundulla in 1968. My brother and I had piano lessons with Miss Adele Wiebusch at Cowan St every Friday afternoon, after which we always used to visit Grandma and Grandpa in their lovely old cool house. Grandma died there in 1961, followed by Grandpa in 1966.
