Nigel Daw - I was born in 1948 at the Hutchinson Hospital. My parents were: Brian Gofton Daw and Shirley Daw (nee Codrington). We lived at 34 Twelfth Street, Gawler West until 1960 when we moved to Plympton Park.

I attended the Kindergarten located at the Congregational Church and was regularly driven there by 'Teddy Allwood'. I attended Gawler Primary School from 1953 to 1960.

My football team was Gawler South 'The Lions' and I recall players such as John Nottle and Bob Argent. Darryl Hicks was playing for Roseworthy College. Quite often my mate, John Copson, and I went to matches at the Gawler Oval and 'sometimes' we crawled under the southern fence for 'free entry!'

In November 1957 I was present at the Gawler Airfield to witness the 40th anniversary re-enactment flight of Graham Carey's flight Adelaide to Gawler of 1917. Carey was present on the Guinea Airways Douglas DC-3 along with Bill Wittber.

I have fond memories of growing up in Gawler during the 1950's.
