According to researcher Bev Burke, on Lot Pt 24, Julian Tce., the E&WS Department built the office on the corner of Julian Terrace South and Murray Street South in 1881/2. It housed the pumping plant and well for Gawler's first water supply system. The office and residence for the Superintendent was built 1882.3.
