George Gozzard took over the duties of Gawler Postmaster, following the death of Henry Calton (who had run the service from his Old Spot Hotel). George combined the duties of Postmaster with those of baker in Walker Place[1], he was assisted by newly arrived Philip Cheek from 1854 for about 2 years.[2]
George died on 21 June 1863 and was buried in Gawler Cemetery.[1]
