Dean Street was initially developed as Blanch Street and can be seen on the 1873 Bassett Town Plan, the street's name was changed in 1939.[1] This street has homes and buildings within it that are Contributory heritage listed, including 7 Dean Street, with its elaborate cast iron veranda ornamentation and boundary fence.

The mid twentieth century homes that stood at 11 Dean Street (c1950s) and 13 Dean Street (c1960s, built by Lance and Brenda Tiller) were demolished in 2020 and four new residences were built on the two blocks (c2021).
