Residents of Fifth Street

  • Alf Price (William Alfred Price) and wife Jean Price (nee Alma Jean Gosden) purchased the stone house at 5 Fifth Street in October 1967 and were still living there in 1988 when Alf passed away.[1] Previous owners of the block included Sydney Frederick Hore, painter, and wife Florence Maud Hore (1948 until 1967) and before that Frank Robert Gwynne, wheelwright (1923 until 1948).[1] The Hore family would have been residing there at the time that they received the news their son Sydney Ross Hore was killed whilst serving in the Royal Australian Air Force in WWII (see WWII Personnel).
