Laurence Austin Farmborough Payne, was born on 1904, son of Frederich Payne and nephew of William Gilbert Payne. He married Dulcie Beryl Cork, daughter of Leslie Cork in 1929 (sister of Frank Elliot Cork).


He was a chemist/pharmacist, and traded as "Austin Payne" in the 1930s and "L A F Payne MPS" "Prescription Specialist" in the 1960s (the MPS indicates Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia).

He leased Murray Street Chemist premises (originally John Letcher's premises) from Roy Boswell Pearson from 19 Jan 1933 until 26 Dec 1950.[1]


LAF Payne died on 6 September 1997, aged 93 and was buried at Willaston Cemetery with his late wife Dulcie.
