In 1867 the newly-titled Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (the fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert), visited Gawler. He landed at Glenelg on October 31st, and was the first member of the royal family to visit Australia.
The Bunyip ran an article on August 17th about the upcoming visit, and in 1992 another (on the 125th anniversary of the visit).
