CURRENT TOPICS – The Bunyip 1897
The Late Mr. Otto Wachsmuth. — Included in the death roll this week is the name of Mr. Otto Wachsmuth, who had been a resident of Gawler nearly all his life. His father established the saddler's business near the post-office in the early days of the town, and after his decease Mrs. Wachsmuth carried it on for many years, until she transferred it to her son. The deceased gentleman, who had been ill for some time, and who was 47 years of age, took no active interest in public matters. In his own circle, however, he was appreciated for his geniality and good nature. He leaves a widow and three children. Mrs. G. J. Mellor of Adelaide is a sister. 4
Otto Wachsmuth In 1890 owned 20 Eighth Street. The property was transferred to Mary Wachsmuth in 1897 to his following his death.5
Mary became bankrupt two years after Carl’s death.
