According to John Clift (3 June 2012) "Originally the family home of the Broadstock family it is understood that Mr. Broadstock was a farrier and conducted his business at the rear of the property. In later years this home became the property of Laurel Rankine (nee Broadstock) and was the home of Don and Laurel Rankine. At the time of writing [2012] this is now surgery rooms and car parking for the practice Hyde and Partners. Don and Laurel were members of the National Trust, Gawler Branch and Don was Branch Chairman for a period."
Lynette Ansell, whose parent's ran the delicatessen next door (4-6 Adelaide Road), also recalled that Mrs Broadstock lived in the house closest to the river, suggesting she lived there from 1923.
In 2025 this building is still present and in addition to the adjacent building at 4-6 Adelaide Road (former Mill Inn, later also part of Hyde and Partners Medical Clinic) is in the process of being extensively altered to become Confident Kids Childcare and Early Learning Centre.
